A new era is upon us. We have entered the Mercury rocket phase of the Psychedelic renaissance. We are beginning to blast off & explore the limits of human consciousness. What a truly exciting time to be alive.
The Oregon Health Authority has recently granted the first license for a Psilocybin service center, which is set to become operational in the coming summer months. This center will provide a unique opportunity for individuals interested in exploring the effects of Psilocybin, without requiring a prescription or referral. Rather, participants simply need to complete a preparation session with a licensed facilitator, after which they may be eligible to participate in an administration session at the center. During this session, participants may consume Psilocybin under the guidance of a trained & licensed facilitator.
With the opening of this center, individuals will now have the opportunity to experience the benefits of Psilocybin in a safe & controlled environment, under the guidance of trained professionals. This is a remarkable step forward for the industry. As more attention is brought to the benefits of Psilocybin, we can expect to see continued growth in this field, with more opportunities for individuals to explore its potential.
The movement is coming above ground & make no mistake - this is a landmark event. Although this news is not without its detractors..
The cost of a session at the center has been announced at $2,800, which has raised concerns among some individuals.. If you grow your own mushrooms, or have access to Psilocybin that costs a fraction of this price…you might scoff at this hefty price tag. But doing so misses the point — this broadens the market.
Many can’t (or won’t) grow their own mushrooms. Countless others don’t have access to Psilocybin. And, there is a massive swath of people who simply would not travel to an advanced state of consciousness without a trusted professional guiding them. The opportunity to experience Psilocybin in a safe & controlled environment under the guidance of a licensed professional is an investment in their personal growth & well-being.
It is not uncommon for people to spend significant amounts of money on vacation experiences that enrich their lives & provide a sense of fulfillment. Similarly, this experience can be seen as a valuable investment in one's self. While the cost may seem steep for some, it is important to consider the value that it can bring to one's life.
There are those who argue that nature & access to Psilocybin should be available to everyone, and while this sentiment is admirable, it fails to take into account the long-term impact of legalizing Psilocybin. Culture determines policy, not the other way around. By providing a safe & legal outlet for those who may have otherwise never explored Psychedelics, the use of these substances can become more ingrained in our culture & ultimately lead to greater societal acceptance & understanding.
This is how change happens.
A society that doesn’t have sovereignty over its own consciousness is not free.
The idea that one adult can dictate to another adult what substances they can or cannot consume is absurd. A society cannot claim to be truly free if it does not have control over its own consciousness. The use of psychoactive substances is a personal choice that should be made by individuals based on informed consent & harm reduction principles. The government's role should be to provide education & resources to help people make safe & informed decisions, not to prohibit or criminalize substances that have been used for centuries for medicinal, spiritual & recreational purposes.
It is difficult to comprehend why personal decisions regarding substance use were ever outsourced to external authorities. There are already laws in place, such as DUI regulations & age limits, to ensure public safety. However, it is not reasonable for individuals to dictate how others should live their lives, as long as their choices do not pose a direct threat to others. The ability to make autonomous decisions about our own consciousness is a fundamental aspect of personal freedom, and it is essential that we protect this basic human right.
The announcement of the first licensed Psilocybin service center marks a shift in how society views the use of Psychedelics. As more people have the opportunity to experience their benefits, the awareness of personal freedoms & the impact of drug laws will continue to grow. For many, a Psilocybin experience can offer a new perspective on life & lift the veil of why they were made illegal in the first place. It is time for society to re-examine its approach to drug policy & acknowledge that personal sovereignty over one's own consciousness is a fundamental human right.
The granting of the first Psilocybin service center license by the Oregon Health Authority is a major milestone in the journey towards recognizing fundamental human rights. Psychedelics have the potential not only to save lives but also to gift us with memorable experiences, love & unity in our world, and to raise our consciousness. Oregon has become the Cape Canaveral of this transformative movement.
While some may have concerns about the cost or setting of the center, I choose to see this as a moment of great potential. With the opening of this center, we are not just providing a service, we are unlocking new possibilities for personal growth & societal change. This is a crucial step towards creating a world that values individual sovereignty & holistic well-being. We are at the forefront of a new era of consciousness, and this center is just the beginning.
The wheels are in motion & there is no going back.

It's Happening...First Psilocybin Center to Open this Summer
I think this is great & a much-needed step forward for society. Really well articulated piece.
This is progress, however you have said in the past, "I suspect the popularity of Ketamine has more to do with its frictionless access (and subsequent revenue streams) than its healing effects." The cost of a ketamine treatment is roughly $400-$500. The price of $2,800 per psilocybin experience seems over the top. It's also in a clinical setting, like ketamine therapy. I prefer natural over synthetic (when all things are equal), but it seems strange to me that you are touting the center in Oregon, but dismissing ketamine.
